Vic100 Wine Awards Success

Tellurian_Tranter Shiraz_2013

Tellurian Wines are delighted to announce that once again we have been awarded the Regional Award for best Heathcote wine in the Vic100 Wine Awards. Our 2013 Tranter Shiraz took out the prize, following on from the 2013 Pastiche Shiraz winning the same award last year.

Curated by Nick Stock, the Awards aim to judge the top 100 wines from across Victoria and seek to find the best wine out of each region in a celebration of the depth and diversity of the Victorian Wine Industry.

The 2013 Tranter Shiraz was recognised for being “A shining example of just how well Heathcote can do the bigger, bolder and richer style of shiraz with a sense of balance and poise. This has plenty of depth and fleshy, texture, dark plums, dark chocolate and a bold saturated plum finish. Delicious now.”

We are thrilled that our 2014 Pastiche Shiraz and 2015 Fiano also made the list of the state’s top 100 wines.

The 2013 Tranter Shiraz and 2014 Pastiche Shiraz will be released in 2016. The 2015 Fiano can be purchased here.

Pastiche Shiraz 2012 – 93 Points – Mike Bennie

“Heathcote Shiraz can often be a full-fledged experience, but Tellurian has produced a wine that finds a finer balance, more savoury personality and a medium-bodied feel that allows some earlier approach. It’s set to red currants, spice, subtle cedar with a comely twist of ‘Aussie bush’.”

VICTOP100 Awards SEP2014Message from Head Judge & Curator, VIC100

The VIC100 is a celebration of the best Victorian wine. The connection between the city of Melbourne and the wines and produce of regional Victoria is bound by closer ties than any other state in Australia. On top of that, world class wines produced throughout Victoria cover an unrivalled range of styles.

The VIC100 also celebrates the many distinctive regional characters, historic and leading edge styles and the people and families who craft them. It recognises and celebrates the state’s very best wines in the iconic setting of Melbourne’s premier public space, Federation Square, strengthening the bond between this great city, its residents and its regional surrounds.

I look forward to seeing you in September as we launch the inaugural VIC100.

The expert tasting panel assembled to review red wines from Heathcote including Huon Hook, Peter Bourne and Nick Bullied MW, rated the 2010 Tellurian Tranter Shiraz 5 stars, 93 points.  We were delighted with the rating that positioned our Tranter Shiraz alongside the some of the best producers in the region, along with some very flattering comments from the selection panel:

“Impressed the whole panel with full flavour and fine mouth-coating tannins that give it a round, beautifully balanced structure…”

“…The wine is beautifully balanced now and is a tremendous cellaring proposition. Strongly recommended.”
