Tellurian Wines

TWB 2021

TWB is a blend of Roussanne, Marsanne & Grenache Gris all grown organically at our vineyard located in Toolleen close to the centre of the Heathcote region. Each grape varietal contributes to the complexity of the wine with stone fruit flavours prominent, great length and a supple mouth coating texture.

Tellurian means “of the earth “ and the soil at our estate vineyard, which is derived from 500 million year old Cambrian bedrock, is the key component of our terroir reflected in the TWB. We expect the TWB will age gracefully and develop further depth and complexity over 5 years with careful cellaring.

VINEYARD

Three small blocks of Roussanne, Marsanne and Grenache Gris at our Tranter Rd, Toolleen vineyard, growing in Cambrian soils formed over 500 million-years. Deep, rich, decomposed greenstone rock with soil depths up to 2m allow roots to reach deep, while relatively low fertility controls vigour and yield.

VINTAGE

On the back of two previous dry seasons 2020 was very challenging. A very dry winter and spring was followed by a dry and hot summer. Yields were down by over 50% in some varieties. The grapes that were harvested were of good quality and whites were surprisingly good given the season.Â
